Hawaiian Humane Society - "Shout Out for Animals" Video Winner!
Congratulations to our 7th graders, Alexis Klimpl, Caitlin Witt-Lau and Haley Lambert-Zielomski. They won first place in the middle school division of the Hawaiian Humane Society "Shout-Out for Animals" video contest. They will each receive a cash prize of $50 and a private "behind-the-scenes" tour of the Hawaiian Humane Society, an invitation to a special shelter event and mention of their winning entry on the Society's website and quarterly newsletter. Their winning video is titled "The Plan", a humorous short video about animal overpopulation and is posted on the Humane Society website. Two other entries that the girls worked on has also been posted on the Humane Society website. These students are members of the Video Club, under the creative direction of Mr. Clayton Harada. Olelo Youth Xchange Video Finalists!
Students in our King media classes submitted 32 original videos to the 2012 Olelo Youth Xchange Video Contest.
King has two video finalists in the "Peace" category:
"Domestic Violence"- Produced by Casey Park, Brenda Nekonishi, Christyn Henderson, Grace Schleinkofer, Melody Weatherwax and Mahea Harris-Kobayashi
"Labels" - Produced by Sacred Wright, Precious Aweau, Mia Terstagge and Angel Banta
Their talents and creativity will be honored at an upcoming luncheon and ceremony at the Ihilani Resort. This gala event will be attended by over 500 students and teachers statewide to celebrate and inspire each other with their video productions. Much thanks also goes to Mr. Brian Viola, media teacher, for inspiring our young film producers.
