Important "Papers for Parents" Information Coming Home...

Parents and Guardians - Please check with your child for these important forms that will be sent home on Tuesday, August 30th. They should have them in their "Papers for Parents" pocket of their King Binder.
The information you are receiving:

2010-11 HSA Family Score Reports - Provides you with your child's Hawaii State Assessment scores in Reading, Math and Science (8th). Your child reviewed this report in their Advisory class and recorded their score in their planner. Please keep this report in a safe place. The school does not keep copies of these reports.
Flu Vaccine Information and Consent Form - Please complete and return the forms by September 9, 2011 if you want your child to receive a vaccination at our flu clinic day (October 20, 2011, at King, one day only). No late forms will be accepted.

Portraits of Hawaii - Picture Packets - Students will be taking their photos for our yearbook on Sept. 12 (7th gr.) and Sept. 16 (8th). You may also order photos at this time. All students will be photographed. Only those who make payment on picture day will receive a picture package.  Students must have their order form and payment on the day of picture taking. Teachers are not collecting them ahead of time.
And while you're at it, please check their King Binder and backpack. Neat and orderly? Are papers in their correct pocket? Or crumbled and folded at the bottom of their bag? Take the time to help them get organized. It is a skill that will serve them well for a lifetime!

Message from Mrs. Alaiasa, Principal...

Aloha Friends and Families,
The opening of the school year has been a GREAT ONE!  We’ve all come back to school with the attitude that Student Achievement REALLY DOES Matter.  Achieving AYP last year was a great boost to our teachers and students.  It sends a clear message to the community that we’re fighting the odds and actually meeting them.  It’s with the concentrated effort of both families and school that this effort has proven to be of value and worth, and that education and character building is ‘happening’ here at King.

We would like to honor our King families for building the 5 Rs into their own daily regimen.  It is because of this Castle School Complex push that our young students are able to learn more than just the ABC’s, but to learn traits that enable them to expand upon, and implement within the choices they face daily.

By continuing to practice the 5 Rs and creating these Habits, our children will be prepared to face their future with confidence when making positive choices.  As a school we invite you to join with us in continuing this partnership in helping our youth gain experiences in education and life that will give them a step up throughout this journey.

We are excited about building a strong partnership with all of you.

Mahalo,
Mrs. Alaiasa, Principal
